Run with Amber

On my site I talk about the places I’ve been so lucky to visit, my travel experiences, and some running stories. Run with Amber is about sharing my travel adventures (and some travel tips ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) with you! I’ve been able to finally enjoy running again after so long, and I decided to combine 2 things that I love – running and travel! I love being able to travel and set out on a running adventure in a new city.

Another aspect to me and my site is I have Celiac Disease, and I share my experience with living withย  Celiac, being a runner, and traveling while being gluten free. It’s interesting, but not always easy. Hear more about how I was diagnosed and how it changed my life here.

Celiac Disease

Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten. The super simple basics of it is the protein that is gluten attack the villa in the small intestines. Over time the villa become flattened and are unable to do their job. Those villa are what help absorb vitamins and nutrients. When a person doesn’t get those vitamins and nutrients it can have devastating effects.

I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in October of 2016, and that was when I felt like my life started over. It was a new start for me. I realized running was challenging for someone with Celiac, but my diagnosis made it possible for me to be able to start running again. My struggle leading up to when I was diagnosed is in this post here. Check it out to get the whole kit and caboodle! For those curious, my home base is in New Jersey, right outside NYC. I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York.

I travel to run.

Run with Amber Start HereRunning in new cities is honestly the best way (at least I think) to see the World. You get to see more, faster. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love running half-marathons! It took me about 2 years from being diagnosed to get to that point in running. I took my time! Ya gotta go at your own pace. I’ll be sharing all kinds of photos, my races, things about running, and how having Celiac affect those things. Traveling can be challenging when a person has Celiac. I’m on a journey to find the best gluten-free croissant out there in the World…or a cinnamon roll for that matter!

Please check out some of my posts and share in my journey around the world and run with me, Run with Amber. ๐Ÿ™‚
